My husband and I are weekend cyclers ….we don’t race, we toodle along and then climb some hills, race a little, and enjoy the time together – if I can keep up with him!  We do 7-9-12 miles in a day usually one day each weekend, rarely two as the other is spent on the beach!!!!

Florida is flat, so a challenge is the hills – we try to find a path that takes us over a highway as that usually has a long climb up and then a cool coast down!   My quest to feel as if I worked hard that time.

We went to a new park on Saturday and it got me thinking how we go out of our way to vary where we go to ride.  We sometimes aren’t really in the mood so we go to a park we know and we can enjoy, we don’t worry too much about what we are doing.  Other days, we go to a new place and explore. Our goal is to at least cycle; our second goal is to feel as if we worked hard, some days harder than others.

This isn’t unlike the process we need to adopt to be successful in our businesses.  I can look at sales: your goal is usually a number and if you have done your homework you know your own drivers to reach your goal.  BUT, sometimes having change to challenge you, to test your theories, to see if you can find a different way to get to the same result works!

I think if you aren’t careful, you can get bored, sound stale, lose your self-motivation ….I am as guilty of this as the next person.

So, change it up, keep at it, don’t give up – but allow that variety to add spice to your life.
